Care for Alzheimer’s and Dementia
Short term care
Welcome to Runk and Pratt “Pearls of Life” at Liberty Ridge – Lynchburg! In late 2017, Runk and Pratt celebrated the opening of Pearls of Life: A Memory Support Community at Liberty Ridge for adults with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. This state of the art community is located just across the street from Runk and Pratt at Liberty Ridge.
Runk and Pratt “Pearls of Life” at Liberty Ridge – Lynchburg understands that Alzheimer’s and dementia present unique, difficult problems that many family members and at-home care providers eventually find overwhelming. We have come alongside these families and caregivers to provide the highest level of care for these loved ones that need it most.
A community Custom-Built to care for your aging loved ones
The building itself is designed to facilitate the care of our seniors in a number of ways, including a community area called Main Street, designed to look like an old-fashioned line of shops. There are also two enclosed outdoor gardens and a central patio where residents can safely enjoy sunshine and fresh air.
Windows and skylights are throughout the building to maximize the natural light. Furnishings are classic yet comfortable, so seniors feel right at home as soon as they walk through the door.
Our Pearls of Life community also includes several multi-sensory life skill centers equipped with familiar objects, such as a rotary telephone, display train set, military uniforms, as well as vintage ovens, cabinets, cribs, and washing machines.
Using advances in Technology to Keep Seniors engaged and active
This new community will also feature one-of-a-kind advances in technology that aid in Memory Support, including two Snoezelen rooms, an industry-leading concept that helps sooth Alzheimer’s patients and promote positive interactions with staff and family members. Hallways will feature interactive environments where residents can draw shapes, play games, and move objects around simply by touching the wall.
Activities are designed to help sustain a healthy mind and body
Each month our full-time activity coordinator creates unique, stimulating experiences for our residents. Activities include musical guests, holiday festivities, exercise classes, pet visits, bingo and trivia games, arts and crafts, worship services, local outings, birthday parties, and much more!
A full calendar of events creates a stable daily rhythm and engages the various functions of the mind, all while decreasing restlessness.
All of these efforts, combined with ongoing patient love and kindness from our skilled staff, make Pearls of Life at Liberty Ridge the absolute best environment for seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia in our area.
