Homestead Healthcare Center is a short-term rehabilitation center that focuses on Residents returning to their fullest potential, as well as providing long-term care services. We recognize how important it is to select the right health care option to meet your individual needs. Homestead Healthcare Center specializes in providing skilled, intermediate, and long-term care services. We have the programs and the support services ready to assist your care needs increase or decrease.Homestead Healthcare Center is located on the southside of Indianapolis not far from Southport Road. We are near shopping, restaurants and hospitals.
By choosing Homestead Healthcare Center for long-term care, we understand that residents and families are placing their trust in us to provide quality care and customer service. Our dedicated medical team provides a full spectrum of nursing and specialty services 24 hours a day. Our professional and caring staff is available to provide personal care for those residents requiring daily living assistance or complex skilled nursing treatment that is based on the individual resident’s needs.
Medicaid is a Federal and State funded program operated by the Welfare Department that pays necessary medical expenses for many low-income individuals. To qualify, an individual must meet certain financial eligibility requirements. Homestead Healthcare Center does accept Medicaid residents; however acceptance is based on bed availability.
Our Occupational Therapists will work with our Guests to increase independence with activities of daily living (ADL’s) including bathing, eating, dressing, self-care and home management tasks. Safety awareness and fall prevention education is also provided by our Occupational Therapists.
Our Physical Therapists will work with our Guests to regain strength and balance and also improve mobility. Based on the findings of our initial assessment, individualized exercises and education will help the Guest meet their rehab goals as quickly and safely as possible.
The therapy team at Homestead Healthcare Center takes great pride in Guests achieving their goals and returning to the highest level of functional independence for them. Upon admission, our Therapy team will collaborate with Nursing, Dietary, Social Services and Activities to create an individualized plan of care for each Guest. Throughout their stay in our private rehab suites, each Guest can expect 24-hour nursing support along with quality therapy services. Each Guest receives complimentary local telephone service as well as a television with complimentary cable service. As a Guest’s projected discharge date nears, the Social Services Director will assist the Guest and/or family with any discharge planning needs. This includes making the appropriate referrals for Home Health, Hospice, Assisted Living arrangements and durable medical equipment.
Respiratory Nebulizer and Tracheotomy TreatmentAs needed, Homestead Healthcare Center has Respiratory Therapists that can treat and educate residents with acute and chronic respiratory issues. We are able to care for residents requiring nebulizer treatments, oxygen therapy, plural x drains, tracheotomies, CPAP’s, BiPAP’s, EXPAP’s, and some high-flow oxygen therapies.
The role of the Speech Therapist is to improve functional communication and cognitive skills of all of our Guests. They also monitor and modify swallowing techniques and introduce diet modifications and special feeding techniques when necessary for Guests who have decreased abilities in these areas.
Knowing that a loved one is suffering from a debilitating illness or possibly even nearing the end of their life, it is often very difficult to deal with mentally, physically and spiritually. The staff of Homestead Healthcare Center combines knowledge and empathy to help manage a patient’s symptoms and make the patient as comfortable as possible. Outside hospice providers may be able to offer further support if the Resident meets hospice criteria. Educating and comforting the family is also part of end of life care services provided by our staff.
Respite care is designed to relieve individuals or families involved in caring for a loved one who is no longer physically or mentally capable of taking care of themselves on a daily basis. Homestead Healthcare Center offers a respite care stay program that allows for caregivers to take a break and take care of themselves. Whether a caregiver must travel for business or recuperate from an illness or injury, we can relieve the burden of daily caregiving through our respite care program.Homestead Healthcare Center offers its services including 24-hour nursing care, medication administration, daily meals and snacks, laundry services, planned activities and social services, during respite stays.
