Seniors Guide: Our Family Story of Serving Seniors

Since 2001, Seniors Guide has been helping older adults and their loved ones, like you, to navigate senior living, caregiving, and the changes of aging. This is the story of our beginning and our ongoing commitment.

What is SeniorsGuide.com and why was it created?

SeniorsGuide.com is a trusted senior living directory and aging resource hub designed to help older adults and caregivers navigate care, housing, and wellness decisions with clarity and confidence. Launched in 2001 by a family who personally struggled to find care options for a World War II veteran, the platform now serves millions of seniors and caregivers nationwide with trusted articles, planning tools, and a comprehensive directory of senior living providers.

How SeniorsGuide.com helps:

  • Nationwide senior living directory
  • Educational articles on senior care, housing, and wellness
  • Planning tools for evaluating providers and care options

SeniorsGuide.com serves older adults, adult children, and caregivers through educational articles, tools, and local resources covering senior living communities, caregiving, health, wellness, and everyday aging decisions.

Our Story

Many families reach a moment where they wonder: “Mom’s not doing great, but how do we help her in a way that can work within our lives?”

Our family faced a similar situation when John and Lori Ross (our company founders) were caring for John’s dad, Doodle. He was a WWII veteran with diabetes who had lost his sight and needed ongoing dialysis and transportation to doctors’ appointments. That’s when the family realized just how challenging it was to find senior living solutions in the late ’90s. Since there wasn’t an easy way to learn about aging options, they started the Senior Housing & Resource Guide, a collection of local senior resources to make searching senior housing options easier. What started as a small magazine in 1999 launched into a website in 2001, and now SeniorsGuide.com reaches seniors and their families across the country with one goal…

No one should feel alone when navigating aging or caregiving decisions.

Our team at Ross Media Solutions, now led by Katharine Ross and Brian Ross, does all that we can to make sure seniors and caregivers have the information and support they need to make their best decisions around aging transitions.

If you’re here at SeniorsGuide.com in search of information and answers, we’re here to help.

Built for Families Who Need Clarity, Not Pressure

We created SeniorsGuide.com from our real-world caregiving experiences… what we lovingly called “Doodle duty.” Through caring for parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, we learned how aging can disrupt routines overnight. You may have learned similar lessons. Our goal is to be the honest, pressure-free resource we wished we’d had, serving families like yours.

We help seniors and caregivers:

  • Compare senior living options without pushy sales calls
  • Understand costs, care levels, and housing types
  • Get answers about home care, memory care, and aging in place
  • Access resources for planning your own retirement journey

Whether you are just beginning to research senior care or actively comparing providers, SeniorsGuide.com supports you with empathy, clarity, and privacy.

A Resource That Understands the Journey of Aging

Aging is emotional. It brings joy, frustrations, and often a new normal we didn’t seek. SeniorsGuide.com is meant to be a space where that journey is met with a trusted voice that understands.

We cover topics such as:

  • Senior living and care options
    • Active adult and 55+ communities
    • Independent living and assisted living
    • Memory care and nursing homes
    • Rehabilitation and long-term care
    • Aging in place and home care
  • Caregiving and in-home support
  • Health, wellness, and safety for seniors
  • Decluttering, downsizing, and moving
  • Everyday tips, recipes, and activities

Every article, resource, and tool is created to enrich, educate and empower so you can confidently make decisions for your future or to care for someone you love. Families use SeniorsGuide.com to compare senior living communities, explore care types, learn about costs, locate local providers, and access trusted articles that simplify major decisions. Why We Do This Work

Behind Seniors Guide is a team that believes in serving seniors. Many of us have walked a path of an aging journey within our own families. We know the worry, late-night googling, uncertainty, and potential financial impact that comes with making retirement and care decisions.

That experience fuels our mission. With over two decades of experience in senior-focused publishing, Ross Media Solutions built SeniorsGuide.com to be the trusted voice we wish we’d had.

What We Believe:

  • Families deserve clarity
  • Seniors deserve privacy and ethical data practices
  • Everyone deserves a voice that truly cares

When you land on SeniorsGuide.com, we want it to feel like you’ve found the voice of a trusted friend who’s been through this before. We believe that families deserve clarity, seniors deserve trustworthy data practices, and everyone deserves a resource that is focused on serving seniors better.

Our Promise to You

SeniorsGuide.com encourages families to browse independently, privately, and at their own pace. We believe families should be able to research senior living without feeling tracked, sold to, or rushed. We only share your information with providers you choose to contact and never without your permission. We do not sell your personal information. You stay in control of your own journey, free from data walls, aggressive follow-up calls, or unwanted emails from unfamiliar organizations. Unlike referral-based platforms, we prioritize education and discovery over commissions.

Since our first print guide in 1999, we’ve grown into a nationally trusted digital resource. But one thing hasn’t changed: You’re not alone. And you deserve support you can trust.

Summary

SeniorsGuide.com is both a senior living directory and an aging resource hub that educates older adults and their families through every stage of the aging journey. Whether you’re comparing retirement communities, researching home care, or planning your own aging journey, our mission is to give you clarity without pressure. You deserve trustworthy information, private browsing, and compassionate guidance every step of the way.
