Caring People Make the Difference

Caring people make the difference at American Village. You can feel it the minute you walk in and meet our staff. Our healthcare professionals are here to help you and your family find answers, solutions and peace of mind. In fact, they become an extension of your family.

As a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) or life plan community, American Village offers a full continuum of senior housing and healthcare solutions designed to accommodate a diversity of lifestyle choices and healthcare needs. Residents throughout our independent and assisted living service lines have the peace of mind knowing that as part of our healthcare community, additional services like skilled nursing and rehabilitation are available on a priority basis.

We are the only CCRC in Midtown Indianapolis and located in the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood. American Village is close to emergency healthcare, full-service hospitals, churches, shopping centers and restaurants.

American Village does not require any buy-ins, entrance fees or endowments.

Garden Homes – Independent Living

Garden Homes are specially designed independent living homes for the resident who wants the freedom to come and go, but desires the amenities that accompany living in a 55+ community. In our Garden Homes, you’ll find maintenance-free living with 2-bedroom floor plan options. The homes are equipped with screened in porches, washer-dryer hook-ups, a car port and a storage unit.

Our Garden Home residents enjoy the company of their neighbors, and opportunities to participate in a wide range of planned social activities. There is also scheduled transportation for shopping trips, restaurants and appointments. Other conveniences available include restaurant-style dining, beauty salon, library, movie theater and wellness programs. Take comfort in knowing that third party services are welcome.

Independent Living Senior Apartments

Independent living senior apartments include a variety of floor plans ranging from studios to two bedroom options. The apartments include full kitchens, washer and dryer hook ups and a large balcony. Our residents enjoy the company of their neighbors while enjoying three meals a day in our restaurant-style dining room.

The apartments include: planned social activities, scheduled transportation, housekeeping, laundry, utilities, 24-hour receptionist, daily room checks and an emergency response pendant.  Therefore, residents can be as active as they desire while having the comfort and security of living in a senior community.

Assisted Living Apartments

Our Assisted Living offers services that are tailored to meet the needs of each individual. To determine these needs, each individual will receive an assessment by our Clinical Director. This will be done prior to moving in, and reassessed periodically as needs may change.

Similar to the independent apartments, assisted living offers a variety of services and amenities. The apartments include: planned social activities, scheduled transportation, housekeeping, laundry, utilities, 24 hour licensed nursing staff and an emergency response pendant.

We continue to add services designed to keep our residents as independent as they desire, while having access to high-quality care provided by our in-house healthcare professionals.

Memory Care Assisted Living (Auguste’s Cottage I)

It’s important to us that the transition from home to memory care feels familiar and welcoming. Memory care neighborhoods are the perfect environment for residents experiencing the different stages of the Alzheimer’s and dementia journey.

The neighborhood customizes the care and program based on the resident’s individual strengths and needs. The programming consists of physical, cognitive, creative, sensory, and spirituals activities along with a variety of other outlets to allow them to freely express themselves. Along with programs designed to enhance socializations, there is also a strong focus on service projects in hopes of involving and keeping the individuals active in the community.

New Energy Wellness

New Energy Wellness offers a unique exercise program designed to improve your current fitness level and give you more energy then you’ve felt in years! Research based with proven results, this strength building program offers adults ages 50 and older the ability to enjoy more active lives and quite simply, to feel better.

Offered to both residents and the community, New Energy Wellness exposes seniors to a series of exercise programs designed to build balance, vigor, and ability in everyday life. Our Health Promotion Coordinator is trained in Health and Fitness and will work with you and your physician to design a low-impact, customized exercise regimen. The Health Promotion Coordinator is available to supervise and assist members while motivating them to achieve their goals. Blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation levels are monitored before and after each exercise session. It’s never too late to start exercising and achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Moving Forward Short-Term Rehabilitation

Our Moving Forward program is designed for those striving to restore abilities lost due to stroke, cardiovascular difficulties, orthopedic surgery and other debilitating conditions. Programs vary in frequency and intensity and include physical, occupational and speech/language therapies. Our goal is to return our participants home safely with the skills they need to continue life on their own terms.

Exclusively at American Senior Communities, the Road to Recovery program offers the opportunity for our interdisciplinary team, the patient, and their family to meet within the first 72 hours after admission to map out their Road to Recovery by identifying discharge goals. We monitor our rehabilitation outcomes and use the data to consistently improve our services. In-home assessments are performed by the therapy team prior to discharge to ensure a safe transition back to home.

Long-Term Care

Long Term Care is a great option for those who can no longer be cared for at home due to illness, injury, frailty, or other limitations. Under the guidance of an attending physician, long term senior care is provided at our long-term care facilities by licensed nurses, specially trained health care aide and a full interdisciplinary care team. Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies are also available to ensure our long-term health care residents function at the highest level of independence as possible. The setting is home-like, cheerful, soothing and secure.

Respite Care

Respite stays are an option for those who need respite care for elderly friends or family on a short-term basis. This allows home caregivers the ability to travel, start a new job, recuperate from an illness, or pursue other interests. Many find respite stays the perfect option for recovery from surgery or hospitalization. Should a short stay require extended care, we can accommodate that too. We carefully examine the needs of our respite guests and provide the level of care required to make their stay comfortable and enjoyable. Family members leave with the confidence that their loved one is safe and in good hands.

Hospice Care

Hospice and palliative care for seniors is designed to provide comfort, care and pain relief for those facing terminal illness. We partner with Hospice companies to offer comprehensive hospice services including skilled nursing care, respite care, spiritual and bereavement counseling, medical equipment and supplies, social services, and pharmacy services. By putting together an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, aides, volunteers, social workers and clergy, we can serve the needs of our Hospice patients and their families.
