Long-Term Nursing Care
The skilled nursing team at Koester Pavilion encourages residents to achieve their personal best, every day, through the practice of restorative care.
Restorative care focuses on helping residents achieve and maintain optimal physical, mental and psychosocial function. This enhances residents’ ability to live as independently and safely as possible – and minimizes the decline that comes with aging.
Through restorative care, residents are encouraged to participate as much as possible in their care and daily activities such as bathing, dressing and transferring to and from bed or wheelchair.
Koester Pavilion also offers residents an activities program to help them stay engaged in hobbies and other activities they enjoy. These include music, walking and exercise programs, guest entertainers, pet therapy, outings to ballgames and theater, cookouts and religious services.
To help residents feel at home, we encourage them to bring items from home to create a home-like, familiar environment in their private or semi-private suites, which offer window views.

The specially trained staff of the Freedom Court Memory Care Unit at Koester Pavilion provide a safe, secure, supportive environment for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
Living up to its name, Freedom Court encourages and supports residents’ independence, improving quality of life. Freedom Court offers private and semi-private suites, a large family room, dining room and outdoor area that includes a gazebo and garden furnished with comfortable seating.
Our staff members build trusting relationships with residents and their families. They incorporate daily activities and socialization into residents’ care to help them achieve their personal best.
We design activities to match residents’ interests and abilities and involve residents in daily housekeeping tasks such as folding, dusting and sweeping. These activities are therapeutic and help residents feel useful and productive.
Koester Pavilion partners with several hospice agencies in the community to provide end-of-life care, including pain management. Hospice services provide individualized care, promoting patient/resident comfort and helping family and friends through end-of-life stages and grief.
Seniors can stay at Koester Pavilion while their caregivers are away on vacation or business – or need a brief respite from caregiving responsibilities. Contact the admissions department of Koester Pavilion in advance to schedule a respite care stay.
They take great care of my husband on freedom court.
66 days after a fall breaking ribs on my right side I was discharged home from Koester Pavilion. I received tender loving care 24/7 and full attention from the entire staff at Koester Pavilion. They brought me back to good health and for this I am most grateful!
Since my dad has been at Koester Pavilion, we have been very impressed and happy with his care. When we visit, he appears happy and well taken care of. It is evident that the nurses and staff have a wonderful rapport with him which is evident when he is out and about at the facility. During this recent health crisis, Koester Pavilion did an amazing job at being transparent and communicating what was happening at the facility. They let us know anytime there is new information and anytime there was a concern with my dad’s health. They have also allowed our family to FaceTime with him when he has been awake and engaged enough to talk to us. I am thankful for the care he has received while there and recommend this facility to anyone.
