Residents, staff, and visitors alike will agree: there’s something unique about Hillandale Family of Communities.

This family-owned and operated set of facilities, located in Ohio, has been serving their community for almost 60 years. And, after learning more about their state-of-the-art amenities, satisfied residents, and continual commitment to excellence – the longevity comes as no surprise.

We Care Like Family

“We Care Like Family, Because We Are.” This has been the guiding principle for the Hillandale Family of Communities since 1962. Today, hundreds of residents and rehab patients enjoy their family-style care in one of 3 locations in Butler County, Ohio.

Birchwood Care Center, located in Fairfield Township, provides Long-Term Nursing Care, Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation and Respite Care. Doverwood Village, also located in Fairfield Township, provides Assisted Living Suites, Nursing Care, Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation, and Memory Care.

Chesterwood Village in West Chester is a Continuous Care Retirement Community. It is the largest of the three and offers Independent Living in Patio Homes and Apartments, Assisted Living Suites, Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation, Memory Care, and Long-Term Nursing Care.

Though every location has its own set of features and services, each one offers the same high quality care with a loving, personal touch.

The therapy center at Chesterwood Village was relocated to a new building on the campus. The Advanced Therapy Center at Chesterwood Village features a unique collection of the very latest rehabilitation and therapy technology including Aquatic Therapy and machines that utilize Virtual Reality to rehabilitate both mind and body.

“We have the most advanced equipment anywhere in the Tristate,” says owner Greg Dixon. “The equipment at the Advanced Therapy Center exceeds any skilled nursing facility in the area. We have resources that even the hospitals don’t have to help our patients recover faster.”

Living It Up on Main Street

Hillandale Family of Communities Main Street

Technology is not their only brilliant innovation. What really sets the Hillandale Family of Communities apart is their Main Street.

Located at both Doverwood Village and Chesterwood Village, Main Street is a magical indoor neighborhood that serves as the center for Community life. Just a short walk from anywhere in the building, Main Street offers a variety of attractions that residents can visit.

There’s O’Smyley’s Pub serving the best root beer on tap, the Monarch Cinema playing classic films every day, Scoops classic ice cream parlor dipping your favorite flavors, and Maddy’s Salon offering personal styling services to help you look and feel your best.

Main Street also offers dining options like JimE’s Cafe, Emberwood Fine Dining, and Java Jim’s Coffee.

In addition to providing easy access to tons of events and services; the benefits of Main Street go way beyond convenience. It gives residents their independence and control allowing them to live life on their terms in a familiar setting.

Host to Visitors

The best thing about Main Street is that family and friends can enjoy it too. Visitors can experience all the wonders of Main Street whenever they drop by. There’s no need to transport their loved ones in search of something to do; everything they need for their visit – whether it’s lunch, entertainment, or a cozy place to sit and catch up – is all right there.

“It’s just easier,” says Dixon. “That’s exactly why we built it.”

In fact, hosting their guests gives residents a feeling of autonomy and pride – not to mention taking them back to the good ole days.

Residents can invite friends and family to their place to have fun on Main Street. Just like Ann did when she turned 100 last October.”

Main Street has been a vital part of resident life during the recent pandemic as well. With strict limits on visitation, residents have still been able to enjoy the attractions, with proper precautions and social distancing.

Generations of Care

When you consider that the Hillandale Family of Communities has been caring for people like they were family for nearly 60 years, you can see how strong their commitment truly is.

Remaining family-owned and operated has allowed them to ensure that residents receive everything they need; compassionate, caring, and personal care that just feels like home. Therefore, handing down the original philosophy through three generations brings consistency and reliability that residents and families have come to count on.

Most importantly, the Dixon family members work to be as present as possible. Though the communities are well staffed, they are still heavily involved from day to day. It’s common for residents to see one or more Dixons attending to details and ensuring that operations run smoothly.

“That’s the big difference between us and some other communities. We’re family owned, we’re in our facility, we know our residents and their families.” Dixon explains.

In the end, it’s the relationships that make the difference. Standing by principles of quality service and excellent care while remaining open to suggestions from residents and their families allows Hillandale to continue to strive for excellence while honoring one of their deepest beliefs. “It’s All About The Residents.”

“I like that it is family owned,” says Gegner. “I love the idea that they are innovative and always want to provide the best. The owners know their residents and take the time to stop and chat.” She explains that the company – and, as a result, each resident – is very personal to the family.

“The Dixons care about what they do,” she says. “They’re very, very passionate.”

That passion and commitment to deep relationships and superior care will likely carry the Dixons and the Hillandale Family of Communities forward for generations to come.
